Astronesthes ist ein Sex von Strahlenflossen Fisch aus der Familie von Stomiidae.^[1] Die Gattung wurde erstmals 1845 wissenschaftlich beschrieben von John Richardson.

Diese Meeresfische haben eine mehr oder weniger lange Bartfaden am Unterkiefer, die biolumineszierend ist. Sie benutzen es, um Beute anzulocken.
