Verbreitung und Lebensraum

Diese Art kommt aus dem Osten vor Mexiko nach Norden und Nordwesten Südamerika und hat 5 Unterarten:

• Anthracothorax prevostii prevostii: von Ostmexiko nach Guatemala, Belize und El Salvador.
• Anthracothorax prevostii gracilirostris: von El Salvador nach zentral Costa Rica.
• Anthracothorax prevostii hendersoni: San Andrés und Providencia (nahe Osten Nicaragua).
• Anthracothorax prevostii viridicordatus: Nordosten Kolumbien und nördlich Venezuela.
• Anthracothorax prevostii iridescens: Westkolumbien, Südwesten Ecuador und Nordwest Peru.
