Psammotopa ist eine Gattung von einäugige Krabben. Der wissenschaftliche Name der Gattung wurde erstmals 1942 von Robert William Pennak gültig veröffentlicht.[1]
Pennak hat diese Gattung für die neue Art gegründet Psammotopa vulgaris, gefunden im Gezeitenzone vom Strand herum Falmouth im Cape Cod (Massachusetts).
