Cercosaura ist eine Gattung von Eidechsen von der Familie Gymnophthalmidae.[1] Die Gruppe wurde erstmals wissenschaftlich beschrieben von Johann Georg Wagler 1830. Viele Arten gehörten früher zur nicht mehr anerkannten Gattung Pantodaktylus.
Es gibt vierzehn Arten, darunter die erst 2015 beschriebenen Arten Cercosaura doanae. Die Eidechsen kommen in Teilen von . vor Südamerika und lebe in den Ländern Argentinien, Bolivien, Brasilien, Kolumbien, Ecuador, Französisch Guyana, Paraguay, Peru, Surinam, Uruguay und Venezuela. In Suriname kommen zwei Arten vor, von Cercosaura argulus das ist nicht ganz sicher.
Die verschiedenen Arten haben einen runden Körper und einen runden Schwanz. Die Beine sind relativ gut entwickelt.[2]
