Struktur eines Fettalkohols

EIN Fettalkohol ist ein aliphatischAlkohol.

Fettalkohole werden aus pflanzlichen und tierischen Quellen gewonnen Fette und Waschen gemacht. Sie werden als Lösungsmittel oder Co-Emulgator in der Kosmetik zum Beispiel.

Natürliche Wachse wie Bienenwachs bestehen hauptsächlich aus Estern von Fettsäuren und Fettalkohole.

Bis zum oleochemische Industrie stellt Fettalkohole her.

Die Tabelle zeigt Beispiele für Fettalkohole. Die Nomenklatur entspricht der der alkane gefolgt von -ol für die Alkoholgruppe. Oft ist jedoch die triviale namen verwendet (in Klammern).
