Leiocephalidae sind eine Familie von Eidechsen.
Name und Format
Der wissenschaftliche Name der Gruppe wurde zuerst vorgeschlagen von Darrel Richmond Frost und Richard Emmett Etheridge im Jahr 1989.
Die Familie wurde früher als Unterfamilie (Leiocephalineinae) der Leguane, gilt aber heute als eigenständige Gruppe. Es gibt ein Geschlecht – das glattköpfige Leguane- die 30 Arten hat.
Verbreitung und Lebensraum
Alle Arten kommen in der die Karibik.[1] Fast alle Arten kommen nur auf Inseln vor.
